Gillian Plummer has been awarded the prestigious 'Gordon Rae Photographer of the Year 2016'. We are all very proud of Gillian a very deserving winner.
Gillian describes herself as an artist who takes photographs of the natural world and views her images as fine art. "Nature for me is the spirit of life and I am truly inspired by it and its power to amaze. It is that which draws me in close: I'm interested in capturing the 'little' wonders it presents".
Being a detailed person, Gillian uses mainly macro lenses to capture detail to try to present what is familiar, or indeed unique, from a slightly different perspective, be it focusing on a twisted petal, or a balancing insect. This approach has won her many accolades and her work is exhibited widely.
Having worked in previously in education, photography could be considered a second career or perhaps more a therapeutic antidote to the first.
Many of Gillian's creative images have been used by organisations such as Paperchase, M&S, Merrill Lynch Investments, Infocado Calenders, as well as in national newspapers and magazine, card and book publishing, design and advertising.
